#737 English National Ballet
We were delighted to work on this multiple award winning project for the English National Ballet's new build headquarters, constructed at London City Island near Canning Town in London. We were selected via competitive presentation and concept ideas pitch to be the interior designers of the project, working alongside Glenn Howells Architects. The headquarters include dance studios, reception lobby and café, ENB School, feature green room, staff offices, wardrobe, changing rooms, and numerous support spaces.
A great deal of stakeholder consultations were held at the start of the project with staff from all departments and including the world famous Artistic Director Tamara Rojo and a representative of the dance company. This process was both fascinating and productive leading to the inclusion of design features such as sleeping pods for off-duty dancers, and a sunken (soft) “pit” for them to stretch and relax in. The commission also included the furniture procurement process.
