Curzon Library, Birmingham City University
FF&E and re-design of university library

Following the completion of this project by another architect a year before we were commissioned to undertake a full FF&E review and re-design of BCU’s Curzon Library to optimise its use. We worked closely with the Student Union and Library staff to understand the issues and develop solutions.

The design proposals generated an additional 107 seats, creating new, more efficient working areas, and more appropriate breakout spaces. Some of the original furniture was re-upholstered and re- deployed into other University buildings.

The feedback from students in the National Student Satisfaction survey has been very positive and library use has dramatically increased.
