Community Allotment Pavilion for NEPHRA Good Neighbours
NEPHRA Good Neighbours, a community organisation in Manchester, needed a sustainable, multi-functional pavilion for their existing allotment space. The organisation runs a wide range of services to combat isolation and improve community wellbeing, meals on wheels, befriending, a luncheon club, weekly classes, a handy helper service and a Priority Pass Scheme, and needed a versatile new venue to bring these activities together in one dedicated space.
The Challenge
Our Response
The pavilion is designed to sit cohesively within its natural surroundings, using sustainable building materials wherever possible, with options for both flat and pitched roofs depending on context. Environmental sustainability sits at the heart of the design, with the aim of creating a genuine model for eco-friendly building practice within the community, while giving NEPHRA a flexible venue to host community events, educational workshops and social gatherings.
