Refurbishment of Georgian Building for Mullberry's Salon in Beaconsfield
An impressive Georgian building in Beaconsfield's old town needed transforming into a contemporary, luxurious salon with a genuine 'club lounge' feel. The brief called for a broad mix of functions under one roof, hair salon, lounge, beauty treatments and a juice bar, while respecting the building's original character, including its exposed roof structure, cornices and skirtings.
The Challenge
Our Response
The design works in dialogue with the building's original features rather than against them. The ground floor houses a vast cutting floor fitted with state-of-the-art furniture from Aston and Fincher, alongside a licensed bar and a small retail outlet for home accessories, with a series of small zen gardens giving clients calming views out from inside the salon. Upstairs, the first floor is given over to beauty treatments, with a relaxed atmosphere created through the interplay between the historic building fabric and a contemporary interior.
The Outcome
The club lounge feel envisioned in the brief clearly struck a chord with clients describing the salon as feeling like a second home, praising the warm welcome, personal touches like complimentary champagne, and the calm, considered atmosphere created by the space itself. The salon has built a loyal, returning clientele over the years, with many describing it as their go-to for both everyday treatments and genuine pampering, a strong endorsement of a design built around comfort, relaxation and a sense of occasion.
