Extension to Existing Doctors Surgery Lodge Road Surgery
Lodge Road Surgery needed extending to give patients a spacious waiting area with natural light and an attractive, accessible entrance. The existing practice suffered from dark, artificially lit internal corridors that were the only route of circulation for both staff and patients.
The Challenge
Our Response
The brief called for genuinely opening up the building, not just adding floor space. We included a new reception room with desk and private staff area, a records room, a children's play zone and an accessible toilet. An existing office was converted into a clinical room, and three new clinical / treatment rooms were built alongside an enclosed staff area with kitchenette, giving staff access to the office mezzanine. Externally, the car park was resurfaced and the parking spaces reorganised.
The Outcome
The design introduced a contemporary, 42 sq m, single-storey structure that succeeds in opening up the practice.
