Student Hub Refurbishment for Halesowen College
Shenstone House at Halesowen College needed a refurbishment of its learning resource centre and cafeteria but with a tight constraint: the entire project had to be completed within the six-week summer holiday. We were brought in to handle the furniture selection, working closely alongside BPN Architects on this time-sensitive programme. Beyond the practical deadline, there was also a design challenge: creating a new student hub that felt genuinely current, with both an informal learning area and a supervised study space.
The Challenge

Our Response
We worked closely with BPN Architects to keep the furniture selection aligned with the wider refurbishment programme and moving fast enough to hit the summer deadline. For the new student hub, the direction was shaped directly by staff and students together where a "trendy/hipster" aesthetic was chosen to give the space an up-to-date, social feel that would genuinely appeal to its users, rather than a generic institutional look.
The Outcome
The result is a refreshed cafeteria alongside a brand new student hub, combining an informal learning area with supervised study space. Delivered to a demanding six-week timeline, the project gave Halesowen College a social space that reflects how its students actually want to spend their time on campus.
