Complete Workplace Transformation for the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
This project was the refurbishment of an office building in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter for the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. The aim was to completely transform the workplace, which covers 4 floors including a basement of a Grade II listed building, blending the rich historical character with the dynamic needs of a modern workplace such as services, layouts for varying styles of working, accessibility and IT infrastructure. We also needed to reflect BSAC's identity throughout the space.

Our Response
The design is modern industrial to reflect the former character of the building, mixing elements such as exposed brick and beams with contemporary features such as glass partitions, sleek furniture, and strategically placed lighting to create a modern yet grounded aesthetic. There was also a design focus on way finding points, wall quotes, and interior finishing touches such as plants and interior decor.
The Outcome
The final outcome is a fully transformed 4-floor workplace that respects the listed building while functioning as a modern office. Various breakout areas, meeting areas with booth and glass screens for privacy, and meeting rooms that open up via sliding doors create an array of spaces to suit the adaptable needs of a modern workplace.
