Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, University of Central England
Client: University of Central England
Contractor: Murray & Willis
Completion: September 2006
Following our very successful work for the University and its School of Architecture department, we were commissioned to refurbish the Faculty's largest department, again, within the tight time frame of the summer vacation period.
The showpiece of the new works is an 'infinity cove photographic studio' which is used for both still photography and video to enable computer generated graphics to be placed in the scene during post production. A state of the art piece of photographic equipment, called a 'Milo' will occupy the room in a few months time. This new facility places the department above other similar institutions and will allow it to challenge more commercial facilities.
Other areas of the department to be transformed were the photographic
dark rooms and wet processing area, computer and seminar rooms, as
well as general studio and teaching spaces.
This project was completed simultaneously with projects at the School of Jewellery, Bournville College of Art, School of Art, and the Department of Fashion and Textiles.
