We were commissioned to make proposals for the internal and exterior refurbishment of this rather industrial group of buildings.

...punches new accommodation pods through it....

The scheme exposes and utilises the existing concrete structural frame and punches new accommodation pods through it in certain places. These pods sit above the ground on stilts and occupy an intermediate level between the existing ground and first floors.

The necessary access and fire escape stairs are celebrated in similar 'carved out' blocks which tie the whole proposal together aesthetically.
