We produced a conceptual design for an "info box" which would sit within the currently under-utilised courtyard, to act as an entrance, focal point, and transition space between the Trust and the local community.

The "info box" would house an information centre, meeting place, and café for use by the numerous local creative businesses in Moseley, as well as the community in general.

The design also negotiates the large change in level across the site, and by acting as the entrance to the whole complex, it would rationalise the existing spaces within the main building. The space beneath the "info box" allows the courtyard to be used when the weather is poor, whilst the glass panels on the front of the building slide back to open up the whole interior to the courtyard on a fine day.

The courtyard itself would be landscaped with the two keys walls being rendered red to further enhance the visual identity. Dramatic lighting at night would also be part of the proposal.
