This project represents part 2 of a two phase project for a typical Victorian terrace which also included a contemporary roof conversion.
The glass pavilion replaces a traditional conservatory structure, and acts as an intermediate space between the kitchen and the garden.
The new space is glazed on 2 sides, with a glass roof, to maximise the natural daylight. The key wall is a floor to ceiling bespoke storage wall which has a series of open niches, and concealed cupboards to house general items, as well as a flat screen tv, and stereo system.
Acrhitecturally, this wall acts as a datum wall to unify and articulate the space, creating a controlled sight line from the kitchen towards the garden.
This line of vision is further enhanced by a series of floor lights which extend
into the garden beyond.
The flooring also helps to bounce daylight around the space, whilst at night time the predominantly glass structure glows like a beacon. The structure also has electronically opening rooflights to allow natural ventilation.
