Fort Dunlop, Birmingham
Client: Urban Splash
Status: feasibility study
Following on from our successful projects at Fort Dunlop, we have worked with Urban Splash to develop a concept office for a typical office suite at the same building.
The exercise was to show prospective tenants the possibilities of
contemprary office design rather than just the typical space-planned
layout of 'L' shaped desks.
The overall concept for the office is to allow the space to 'breathe' by using a series of inserted elements, rather than clinging to the perimeter walls. This approach means that the office feels more spacious and also that there is always a view out towards the nearby
M6 motorway and all it's activity.
The space is organised around a central spine which acts as a reception desk, informal meeting space, storage, and work space. Elsewhere, a curved wall defines a coffee area and a photocopy / storage area. The wall runs into the perimeter glazing, thus creating a
private meeting room or office. The other side of the space features a series of pod-like hot desk stations, and informal break out space.
We welcome companies interested in this type of concept approach to contact us to develop the idea further for their own specific needs.
