We were commissioned to convert the roof space in this modern house into a master bedroom and en-suite bathroom primarily because the client needed more space but did not want to move from the neighbourhood. The existing forest of unappealing roof trusses (see image) were replaced with a new steel structure which formed a new large volume with which to work.

...rooflights which flooded the space with daylight...

Aside from the en-suite bathroom, storage space was a key consideration that was provided primarily under the eaves behind numerous sliding doors and in two large concealed wardrobes. The overall aesthetic was minimal yet warm which was complimented by the introduction of three velux rooflights which flooded the space with daylight.

The space which was once little more than a storage space is now an integral part of this family home.
