This project was part of a two phase project for a typical Victorian terrace which also included thereplacement of a traditional conservatory.
Both contemporary elements shared the same aesthetic to clearly reveal the relationship of the new and old elements.
The brief was to convert a typical loft storage space into a master bedroom with en-suite facilities. Due to the size, geometry, and structure of the existing roof space, a new dormer window was required. However, rather than providing a traditional solution, we designed a contemporary glass roofed dormer, the front of which could completely folded back toexpose the whole space to the fresh air and the surrounding views! During poor weather this spaceacts as a substitute garden retreat for the clients!
To the side of the master bedroom is the en-suite bathroom which uses
wet room technology to maximise on the feeling of space. The main feature of the bathroom space is a shower space which enjoys generous views over the surroundings, with the shower head set against another glazed roof section.
