The scheme needed to reflect the University department's foray into the private sector whilst minimising the re-instatement work necessary at the end of the lease for this short-term external funded project.
UCECom was a company based within UCE's (now Birmingham City University) Visual Communication Department, supported by Advantage West Midlands to provide open source software to local creative industries. The building was divided into 3 clear sections corresponding to the 3 floors. The ground floor housed all of the public functions such as a seminar space and demonstration room, the middle floor was used for staff breakout space, and the top floor was an open plan office environment.
