The project is a combination of upgrading an existing Travellers site and providing a series of new units, several of which are DDA compliant. The vehicular circulation has also been rationalised and the plot sizes reorganised.
The site acts as a permanent base for Traveller families who sleep in their caravans but require more permanent living accommodation. The units are essentially bungalows without bedrooms and include a living space, kitchen, and bathroom. The relationship between the caravan and the unit is critical, especially in the DDA compliant units which require ramps to access the higher caravan level. Due to site constraints, we initially considered pre-fabricated units which would also meet strict requirements for robustness.
