Tasty Plaice, Eat Central, Merry Hill
Client: Asa Singh
Status: Completed December 2009
|
Already established in the region with their chain of 5 fish and chip shops, Tasty Plaice commissioned us to provide a more cutting edge design for their prestigious new outlet at Merry Hill shopping centre's new food court. Our input extended beyond the design to rebranding, including logo, uniforms and packaging, in order to challenge their high street competitors.
The design features a rich palette of materials with a horizontal emphasis, and dramatic lighting and signage to advertise itself.
Although the design is very contemporary and exciting, it also had to follow the guidelines set by the centre management, Westfield from which approval was needed throughout the various stages from the initial concept through to the detail design.
Both the design period and construction period were condensed to allow the outlet to open before Christmas.
key points
- A striking digital printed glass wall gives the unit a strong presence
- The use of timber and white corian to the counter gives a sleek modern look to showcase the food
- Rebrand included logo, uniform, menu design and food packaging
- Condensed project period
