St Basil's Resettlement Centre, Dalton Street, Birmingham
Client: St Basil's
Status: Completed November 2001 |
The scheme converted a dark and dingy space with awkward circulation into an open, bright and inspiring space for young homeless people to socialise and receive training and advice.
The design includes work, activity, relaxation, and counselling spaces which are organised along the length of the interior. The more intimate spaces are located to the side of the space whilst the larger public areas are located centrally. The space has a contemporary cafe bar feel in an attempt to encourage more young people to the centre. Chill out spaces and a breakfast bar add to the relaxed atmosphere.
