Private Residence, Little Aston

Status: Completed April 2010 |
This private residence in Little Aston, Sutton Coldfield has been transformed from a dark, cellular house to one which now has a totally open plan feel and lets the natural daylight flood in at every angle.
The design proposal was to work with the existing footprint of the property whilst introducing a linear contemporary open plan feel encouraging as much natural light into the living spaces as possible. A series of folding/sliding doors to the front and rear of the property together with glazed lighting panels within internal walls create an extremely light airy space. The views from the front courtyard garden through the house to the rear garden are amazing. The materiality and colour palette were delicate and highly polished to allow become a backdrop to the client’s large collection of artwork as well as to allow the natural light to bounce off the various internal planes.
Landscaping, weather proof decking and external lighting features added mood and functionality to the exterior spaces surrounding the property.
