Following the fantastic publicity and huge interest in our proposals for the neighbouring Rawmarsh media centre, we were commissioned to design this similar facility.
Although similar in its accommodation to the Rawmarsh proposal, this centre had a more community focus to it with evening classes and community events which meant that the relationships between the different users needed to be carefully controlled. The proposal makes a dramatic statement from the road, creating a landmark building yet referencing the existing building and its roofline. The centre houses a reception area, exhibition space, cafe, offices, seminar rooms, and a large community meeting space.
