i Hub, Eastern Way, Daventry

Client: University of Northampton / Building Research Establishment
Status: Winning scheme in invited competition

The scheme was placed runner up in an RIBA International Design competition from 71 entries.

The brief called for an iconic landmark building to house conference and exhibition facilities, cafe, restaurant, and 60 innovation start-up offices. The principal concept was derived from Daventry; the inherent friction between the urban and the rural, resulting in a sculptural organic main building and more linear blocks for the offices. This combination created a campus type feel which the judges commented: "The scheme was admired for the waterside place-making...we admired the urban feel of the canal side massing"
